UPDATE- The groups manager, Jonathan Wolfson, told Politicker.com “Daryl Hall and John Oates recognize that the personal view points of their fans cross all political spectrums and are honored to be supported by their fans everywhere regardless of political affiliation. The PAC’s founders recognize that the use of the ‘Hall’ and ‘Oates’ names for the purpose of raising funds is not an appropriate fan activity no matter what the goal of the fund raising activities might be.” SEE ORIGINAL STORY BELOW.
A new Super PAC is using the soft rock duo Hall and Oates to push their agenda. Atlanta waiter William Hansmann recently registered “Hall and Oates Fans for America” with the Federal Election Commission. Hansmann told Philly.com, ”Who isn’t a Hall and Oates fan in America? All those other Super PACs have ridiculously ambiguous names that any American would stand for if they didn’t know what those PACs stand for.” The Super PAC is raising money to work on parody videos about Mitt Romney using the band’s music. He says “Out of touch” and “Rich Girl” are good songs to start with. Although it’s pro-Obama, I wouldn’t be surprised if the President distances himself from this PAC too.
